The growth of Bukayo from starboy to elite world class talent

The way Bukayo Saka took his goal on the weekend was an absolute picture of maturity. All class. Power, pace, precision.

Movement.

That was the key. Drifting off the right side, effortlessly gliding between opposing players and picking out pockets of space.

Linking with his Hale End mate Emile Smith Rowe and our other young guns Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Taveres. It was pleasing to the eye. Entertaining to watch. Exactly what the fans have been after from Arteta’s side of late. But most importantly it was effective.

We all know Saka’s ability one on one against his defender. Cutting in and shooting and linking up or heading to the byline to pull the ball back.

However Arsenal always seem to be at their best when the attacking players show more fluidity. They duck and weave to find pockets of space. Most importantly they rise through the gears in these moments of inspired movement and move the ball with speed and elegance.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, Saka has not found these moments of freedom enough in the attacking third. He has taken the Pepe role a little too literally and isolated himself on the right wing too often.

Don’t get me wrong, he is very very good at this. But we know that he can be even better. Elite level talent. Possibly world class potential. This movement is what will take Saka to the next level.

Saka has elite level ability to control the ball in tight spaces, use his body to bump off defenders and turn on goal. He will increase his end product 10 x over by adding this to his game more consistently.

If he is fit and starts tonight vs Manchester United this really could be the beginning of Saka turning from starboy to elite level world class talent.

I have high hopes; and I think the man himself thrives off the pressure.

Come on Bukayo! You have this.

Kia Kaha my friend.
