The Arsenal Power Rankings – the rise of the young Lions

Arsenal

Match week 17 coming up, for the Arsenal and 1 month since my last power rankings which you can see here.

It’s been an up and down few weeks with some players performing well, and some not so. Few changes in this weeks power rankings; and plenty that I think will rise over the coming weeks. Beauty of having a young side.

Let’s get straight into it.

  1. Gabriel (0 change) – Our fearless commander at the back. One of the favourites to take over the captaincy. A big goal threat as well = top player.
  2. Aaron Ramsdale (+2) – Our saviour. Infectious laughter. Leadership. Banter. Unbelievable feet. The signing of the season?
  3. Bukayo Saka (+3) – The way Bukayo effortlessly holds players off and receives under pressure is Messi like. If he gets more movement from his peers he will start to add more numbers to his game.
  4. Emile Smith Rowe (+1) – One of our best players this season. His passion is endless. Will be back in the starting line up very soon after his minor setback with injury.
  5. Thomas Partey (-2) – Has had a poor few weeks, but there is no denying his importance. A better performance against Southampton, and we will now be expecting top quality and a more consistent basis.
  6. Ben White (+1) – Has come under a little flack the past few weeks also. However he forms 50% of Arsenal’s solid CB duo and has transformed us as a defensive unit. Loves a ping.
  7. Kieran Tierney (+1) – Had to win his place back after injury, but 2 assists in the last 2 and his trademark physicality, endurance, passion and leadership. Love KT.
  8. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (-5) – Not in good form, and question marks over his role in the team following his late arrival back at Arsenal. However he was caring for his mother, and some things really are bigger than football. Hopeful that Auba turns this around, but certainly not optimistic at this point.
  9. Granit Xhaka (0) – Straight back into the starting line up post injury. Every manager seems to love Granit. He’s not flashy and won’t get all the plaudits, but for some reason we do seem to play better with Xhaka in the side.
  10. Takehiro Tomiyasu (+1) – Expect to see Tomi continue to rise up this list. Getting better and better with every game.
  11. Martin Odegaard (+1) – Another one who will climb this list. Has started to come into his own the past game or 2. Needs confidence in himself.
  12. Alex Lacazette (-2) – Doing a good job up top, but his days are numbered. Could never fault his attidue, or work rate.
  13. Gabi Martinelli (new addition) – Tough start to the season, but he has performed top level since being back. Showing a lot more care on the ball whilst adding his usual excitement.
  14. Nuno Taveres (+1) – Been a fantastic deputy for KT, and will continue to get minutes. More than up for it.
  15. Albert Sambi Lokonga (-2) – Inconsistent and a little erratic at times in possession. This season is throwing Sambi many learning curves; which he is taking nicely in his stride and progressing his development.

There you have it. Enjoy my thoughts, and give me yours in the comments below.

Kia Kaha.
