Here We Go! Fabrizio Romano’s Arsenal Transfer Ideologies

Arsenal vs West Ham

Christmas is around the corner, and that means a winter transfer round up.

We all have our thoughts, speculation, principles and wish lists; but what about some cold hard facts and well thought out rumours. Thankfully the man of the moment Fabrizio Romano has just given us some juicy gossip to fuel the fires ahead of 2 massive transfers coming up.

Let’s break it down.

According to Fabrizio Arsenal are looking for a striker to come in that is sold on the Arsenal philosophy and wants to be at the club long term. No stepping stone. No jumping ship. Commitment to the cause, trusting the process, and a fantastic team first attitude.

Tactically Arteta wants a striker with pace, link up play and can hold the ball, at a good age. Money is available. It is expected that a striker won’t be signed until next summer though.

Dusan Vlahovic – not happening. Arsenal have been in contact in the past 2 weeks but apparently his camp won’t even entertain phone calls. The thoughts are that he has a secret agreement with a top top club already sewn in.

Alexander Isak – Is on the list, with Mikel a known admirer. There is a chance, but only if Champions League football is achieved. Next summer is the possibility.

Karim Adeyemi – Not possible at this stage. Dortmund leading the race, with Barca close behind.

Lautaro Martinez – Arteta was very keen last summer, but not possible due to a recent contract extension.

Raheem Sterling – Arteta loves the player and has a good relationship. It is possible to happen in Jan or summer, as Sterling is looking unlikely to resign, with City unwilling to lose Sterling for free.

Riyad Mahrez – unavailable.

In terms of central midfielders Renato Sanchez is being tracked , with Arteta being a big fan. Doable in the summer.

Outgoings:

Eddie Nketiah likely to be sold in January if new contract not signed. Arsenal not wanting to lose for free.

Pepe likely to be transfer listed in the summer, however will only be moved for a big deal. Arsenal not willing to accept a low offer such as 25-30 million.

So there you have it, not too much concrete incomings, but plenty of interesting bits which give insight into what Arteta is aiming to do.

Enjoy the day team, big match coming up this weekend.
